Learn 10 Tips for How to Be Successful in Nursing School

9. Give Yourself a Break: The Golden Hour

The golden hour consists of taking time away from nursing school to participate in extracurricular activities and hobbies. You can stay mentally strong during a demanding accelerated nursing program by scheduling some downtime each day and week.

The Golden Period

People talk about the golden hour for a student, and while the one-hour limit is a myth, the concept is highly useful. The goal is to set out an hour each day to do something you enjoy while not worrying about your schoolwork. When showering, eating meals, and other daily activities are factored in, most people require more than an hour.

The pertinent notion here is that in order to succeed in a demanding nursing program, you must set aside time each day to be yourself and explore other interests. Set aside time each day to play with your children if you are a mother. Take time to exercise every day if you’re an athlete. Give yourself the opportunity to read for pleasure if you are a reader. Determine the exact duration of your “hour” after you begin studying and how much study time you require each day.

10. Strive to strike a balance between school and life

Students can become so concentrated on succeeding in school that they neglect other elements of their lives. It is critical to remember to take care of yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally while in nursing school.

Here are some ideas for cultivating balance in your life while in nursing school:

• Consume healthily: Consume a variety of vegetables and fruits, as well as lean protein and healthy fat sources such as nut butter. Food is fuel for your body. Therefore taking care of oneself is critical, especially during stressful times.

• Exercise: Make time to exercise on a regular basis. Make this a part of your daily routine. It will relieve stress and get you up and moving after a long day of sitting. You have the time to attend nursing school while also staying healthy.

• Get outside: A nursing student’s existence revolves inside the four walls of their home, lab, or healthcare facility. Every day, take a walk outside. Take a walk in the sun or study on your patio to get some vitamin D.

• Play with your dog: Animals are great for mental health, and having a love of a dog or a cat can boost your confidence. Dogs are also a terrific way to get outside, be active, and interact positively.

• Talk to someone: If you are stressed, speaking with a certified counselor or therapist may be beneficial. To keep your patients healthy, you must first stay well. CTX values you as a person and is here to assist you in any way we can.

• Attend to your health needs: Even if you’re in nursing school, you should still make time to be healthy. Attend preventative care appointments with your family doctor, eye doctor, and dentist to ensure you’re at your best.
